I went to Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery’s “Goryo no Kura” in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
Here you can not only brew sake, but also have a viewing space, sake cups, and purchase sake.
place, location
As mentioned above, it is located in Hakodate City, a tourist destination in Hokkaido.
In addition, since the sake brewery was built on the site of a closed elementary school, there are remnants of the elementary school.
There are remnants of the garden built to commemorate the school’s 100th anniversary, as well as a bronze statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya. (photo above)
GoogleMAP
It is located away from Hakodate station and hot spring town.
You can also go by bus, but it is recommended to go by car or taxi because the number of buses is small.
Approximate taxi fare
Renting a car is also good, but if you want to sample sake, a taxi is recommended.
Fares will vary depending on how busy the day is, but the prices calculated simply based on distance are shown in the table.

Hakodate Station | about 13.2km | 4,060yen |

The cheapest way to get there is from Hakodate Airport.
There is a connecting bus from Hakodate Station to Hakodate Airport, and the fare is 500 yen.
Shop
In addition to sake, you can also purchase anpan made with sake lees.
A refrigerator that cools sake
Here, there are limited sake that can only be purchased at the sake brewery.。
traces of elementary school
The lyrics of the school song that was displayed in the elementary school gymnasium in the past still remain.
tasting
At “Goryo no Kura”, you can taste the sake for a fee.
The price is 880 yen, and you can try three types of sake: junmai sake, junmai ginjo sake, and junmai daiginjo sake.
In addition to Japanese sake, snacks are also included.
The water used to cleanse the palate is the “shikomi-mizu” that is used when making sake.
Brewery
At the back of the shop, there is a window for viewing the sake factory.
You can see the tanks that ferment the moromi and the machine that squeezes the moromi and extracts the sake called “jousou”.
When I visited, they were in the process of fermenting the moromi.
As you can see in the photo on the left, bubbles are coming out of the white liquid.
lastly
Thank you for reading until the end.
Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery “Goryo no Kura” is a new storehouse, so I was able to purchase very beautiful and delicious sake.
The sake brewery also has a research space for high school students.
Perfect for sightseeing
I think there are many people who come to Hakodate for sightseeing.
At the sake brewery, you can purchase limited sake and other items that can only be purchased there, as well as souvenirs.
